CRITERIA FOR THE AWARD OF THE SCHOLARSHIPS
- The activity must be in the furtherance of Scottish piping and drumming, Highland dancing, or Scottish athletics.
- Any person may apply for a scholarship.
- We do not consider the age, sex, race, or creed of any applicant.
- You may make scholarship requests anytime, and we will consider them as they are received.
- Please indicate the activity for which you are making the scholarship application.
- The Executive Board will determine the amount of the scholarships, but the amount shall not be more than the cost of the activity for which you seek the scholarship. In this connection, the training price may include the cost of any instruction and travel and accommodation costs, where applicable.
- The Executive Board may, at its discretion, request proof of expenditure of funds from any awardee.
- Applicants should demonstrate a capacity to benefit from the activity they are making a scholarship request. Such demonstration will typically be in the form of a letter of recommendation from a person in the community whom the Executive Board believes qualified to make such a recommendation.
- The Executive Board may consider other scholarship awards made to applicants by organizations supporting Scottish activities.
- We will give preference to candidates who, at the time of the award, have no intention of leaving the Spokane area and who will, therefore be able, through their studies, to further the Scottish cultural life of the area.
- The Executive Board will review applications received at each of its periodic meetings. If we receive more applications at a particular meeting than scholarships remaining available, the Executive Board will decide which will receive the scholarships.
