Pipe Band Events & Rules
PIPE BAND RULES
Tunes for the massed bands are:
- Competitions will be run according to the rules of the British Columbia Pipers’ Association (BCPA).
- As needed, draw for order of play will take place at 10:00 am on the day of the Highland Games, at the Piping and Drumming Tally Table.
- Pipe Band competition will begin between 1:30 and 2:00 pm (Check the Spokane Scottish Highland Games website closer to the date of the Highland Games for the precise time.)
- Bands shall submit a list of tunes and band players with the entry form.
- A band may play up one grade (challenge up). The band must enter both the event in its regular grade and the event in the higher grade.
- All competing bands are required to participate in opening and closing ceremonies massed bands in order to receive travel and prize money.
Tunes for the massed bands are:
- Scotland the Brave
- The Rowan Tree
- Green Hills of Tyrol
- When the Battle is O’er

Travel money is provided for the first six bands that enter as follows:

Competition numbers and gate passes for competitors will be issued at time of registration at the Main Gate on the day of the Spokane Scottish Highland Games. The Ticket Booth will be open at 7:30 am to accommodate the purchase of tickets for accompanying family and friends.
